sighs loudly. since i’ve gone back to the hell pit that is litg i decided to play s7 since i missed it when it was coming out and i actually enjoyed it. i liked that the guys had their own dynamics and drama happened that didn’t revolve around the mc.

ended up doing a very loyal rafael route bc he’s cute and silly and i liked that he didn’t have fucking rock hard abs like the other guys 😭 we need more fat(ter) guys in this game.

also i adore uma she ended up being my bestie on this play through. i really liked their friendship a lot it was so cute. she’s so messy but i love her for it. i actually got kind of sad that her and alex didn’t work out even if i knew it was coming bc raf and alex were also besties and i thought it was nice to be in the final 2 with them lol oh wellll it was for the best anyway

oh i also liked that bonnie and vicky coupled up at the end! i hope they try to make things work between them bc i liked seeing another wlw couple that didn’t involve mc in the game

this was actually the first time since s4 where i’ve contemplated turning the characters into some of my own ocs to play with a bit more and explore things with them..

Random assortment of Karate Kid: Legends thoughts:

You guys have no idea how relieved I am that this movie wasn't absolutely garbage

WAS IT PERRECT? Noooo. And honestly, there are plenty of flaws to talk about (big and small), BUT there were a lot more elements I liked than what I expected

First of all: Li Fong (played amazingly by Ben Wong) is a darling. He's dedicated, funny, and a little cutie-pie at that. He's a boy!! A talented boy!!! stricken with grief from the loss of a loved one (his brother), like Daniel and Mr. Han once!! To be honest, I rather he would have divulged that vulnerability to Daniel with Mr. Han (who already knew but I digress) as a way for them all to understand each other and strengthen the theme of finding a way to stand up in face of hardship in life

While it has its bland moments, I found his developing romance with New York native Mia to be cute andkksjf. I like how much personality Mia had in particular, and not just being a spunky object of affection for Li; she's familiar with the city in a way he isn't, so she offers to help Li to be familiarized with living in New York. While the execution is another thing, Mia's role as Li's guide is somewhat able to break her out of the one-dimesional Love Interest mold

Victor wasn't a secret evil bad like I thought he was (iykyk). In fact, he's a pretty cool guy. I liked how he and Li's role subverts the typical "mentor and apprentice" dynamic. also NEW JERSEY MENTION 💯💯💯💯💯💯

Alan's role is a little bit suffocated by Victor as The Best Friend™ because of Victor, buuut he'd alright lmao. Love that he has pigeons. He kind of reminds me of Demetri in a way adhkakfdf. He should have been gayer with Li

HEYYYYY JOHNNY WHAT THE FUCK YOU DOING HERE IN THE END MAN?? Also why were you slinking around Daniel alone at Mr. Miyagi's house? 🤨

Probably one of the best parts of the movie is the fighting coreography. It's energetic and dynamic, with lots of usage of the environment to help or hurt characters, alongside lots of humor — you could definitely tell there was looots of inspiration from old Jackie Chan films. Ben Wong is ESPECIALLY eating those moves up OH MY GOD

THE FUCKING GRAPHICS? THE DOODLES? CALL ME EASY BUT OHHHH MY GOD. THAT BUMPED MY SCORE UP BY ONE JUST FOR THAT. THE ILLUSTRATIONS ESPECIALLY IN THE BEGINNING TO THE STORY OF HOW MIYAGI-DO KARATE WAS BORN... AUGH..

Okay onto my criticisms (takes out a big list)

First of all: JESUS CHRIST THE MOVIE WAS RUSHED TO HELL

Almost every scene felt like it had NOOO time to transition onto the next, or even have time to give characters a pause from within a scene!! The editing worked during montages, as they're supposed to go fast, and in the beginning to represented how Li's new life is disorienting (even though I didn't quite like it), but otherwise this flaw pertains throughout the WHOOOOOLE movie in a way that made it feel rushed and even more formulaic than it already was — almsot like it's hitting marks for certain things to happen before it quickly changes for the next thing that needs to happen. I don't know if the scenes were shot that way, or if the scenes were written to be that unnatural, but it was so jarring. The movie definitely could have used for at LEAST 10 more minutes, if not 30, to have let things breathe and feel more natural

The movie should not have skipped so much of the time when Li was training. YES, I KNOW LI WAS ALREADY EXCELLING AT KUNG FU, but training in The Karate Kid was always more than just the martial arts!! In The Karate Kid, it was how Daniel, learned, lived, and understood the Miyagi-Do teaching, and how he bonded with Mr. Miyagi. Skipping Li's chance to do either through showing him training was a huge lost (this also relates to my next point)

The movie also did not explore or elaborate on the philosophical side of Miyagi-Do karate for Li to learn as much as I had hoped to have seen. A crucial part of the original movie was never really the karate itself, but the wisdom behind it. I would say the same thing for kung-fu, however:

Li already knew kung-fu. There'd be no point for him to learn it again

The point of Daniel LaRusso coming to help was so Li could learn Miyagi-Do karate — including the philosophy, not just the fighting techniques

This is THE KARATE KID franchise, more centered on THE MIYAGIVERSE. The Miyagi-do karate philosophy is the CORE of the franchise

Because of this, it felt a little... cheap for Li to have learned Miyagi-Do karate so fast, but without having been shown him having a deeper connection to it than simply a couple more moves in his repertoire

While the Victor plot was enjoyable, it felt like it was straining to connect to the latter half of the movie, when Li was training for the 5 Boroughs Tournament, and it almost felt it was fighting for dominance in front of the camera. Because once Victor was hospitalized, that plotline basically? Disappeared? It was heavily implied Li's motivation to win the tournament was so the prize money could help out Victor's money issues (and hospital bills 💀), but there was an overall lack of cohesion. Which I think there couldn't have been!! If Victor and Li have had a conversation about students being as good as their teachers (and how Li had to be a better student so he could be a better teacher for Victor) — OR EVEN VICTOR AND DANIEL, WHO'S BEEN BOTH STUDENT AND TEACHER — the Victor plot would have felt a lot more satisfying to me

While I understand seeing most of the movie is through Li's eyes has its own merits, this left a lot of characters — namely Mia, Conor, and Alan — to lack a lot of depth because it wasn't directly tied to what he saw or experienced. This is especially troubling for the love interest and the main rival characters. In the case of Mia, the scene where she confesses she kept making bad decisions (coming back to Conor) because it's the easy choice, until she decided it was enough because she finally found somebody new (Li), was one of the more egregiously bland and underwhelming writing decisions related to this issue. It probably would have been more intriguing/touching if we had SEEN this flaw to this effect and its consequences, but we hadn't. So this leaves a lot of shallow writing decisions that are much less interesting

I'm going to talk about Conor Day as a single point here. Like I said, he lacks a lot of depth. And while Johnny in the og film script-wise doesn't contain the deepest of nuances, William Zabka's performance undeniably elevates such a simple, bully character into one with deep flaws but an integrally honorable core that's ultimately threatened by a domineering, toxic influence. I sadly could not say the same for Conor. It's IMPLIED SURE, but he seems a lot less nonplussed (even revelling) about playing unfair and pushing/violating how much he could break the rules and hurt people. Does he even get more than 10 lines of dialogue. Conor lacks a certain threatening presence in the film that you could almost forget he exists lmao. And sure, he's an intimidating jerk, but he really doesn't play much of a memorable role outside of the direct, in-universe happenings (and even then). I would almost say his fucking mob boss mentor (?) O'Shea does, but fucks off a lot to do whatever too. I guess, instead of a Johnny-esque character, Conor Day was a Silver-esque character. I should have known by his black gi, ponytail, and earrings. He should have been gayer with Li

Maybe I missed this, but I'm disappointed that there wasn't more of a reason given for Daniel to travel all the way to New York and help Li learn Miyagi-Do Karate besides just him being nice and prooobably wanting to honor Mr. Miyagi? and instead sort of using humor to Make Daniel go to New York? Like, maybe I would have liked a scene of Daniel looking at Mr. Miyagi's portrait and realizing what he would have wanted him to do, but it (once again) felt rushed for the sake of getting to the next part (Daniel in New York)

It also felt very steamlined of how Daniel and Mr. Han were at first butting heads then to working together, without much effort from either of them to overcome their differences in teaching. I suppose their pep talk to Li with the hachimaki, and then them fighting together as a team was cool, but it felt undeserving (and unecessary in the case of the latter lmao). In my opinion, I would have loooved to see Daniel and Mr. Han have a friendly, if competitive, spar to see who could beat the other, with neither Daniel nor Mr. Han able to win more points against the other, until they're in synch and almost dancing instead of sparring in the end — accidentally demonstrating to Li the synergy of karate and kung-fu together (Li's martial arts dads...)

I'm also saddened there was only a vague reference to Dre Parker, especially when Mr. Han is a TOOOOTALLY different character from The Karate Kid (2010) because of Dre's influence in his life

ANYWAY, I could try to analyze this movie in relation to The Karate Kid's original themes of masculinity, the American Identity, the legacy of men onto boys, etc. But I just watched the movie once and I'm tired

Honestly, I was afraid they'd make Victor and Dr. Fong (apparently, that's the only name we get of Li's mom. Okay) get together, so WHEWWWW on that

GEE LI, HOW COULD YOU GET THREE DADS (Mr. Han, Daniel, Victor)?

Okay but seriously, not one good conversation between Daniel and Victor.

NOT ONE GOOD CONVERSATION BETWEEN LI AND CONOR?

i've talked about my favourite scene before, but i'll yap about it again since someone actually asked this time. the scene in season 2, episode 20, where the serpents protect fangs as he leaves the police station, it makes my heart hurt every time!!! the serpents are so found family to me and it just!!!! AUGH!!!! i love. :(((

Woke up randomly at 4 AM and found a playthrough of the new DLC LET'S GOOOOOOO

I am so many emotions but the heart-stopper is Eclipse. Oh my gosh, he's so sweet and protective! What a cutie pie, augh! He's so messed up and terrifying to look at yet he's so calm and I love the way he folds his hands over his chest!!! I want to hug him so bad ah!

Another big thing is Bonnie. I really wanted to know what happened to him and how he plays into the story of Security Breach. I watched this video claiming his location and oh my gosh, the poor boy. My brain is buzzing over him and his remains because he is destroyed but still somewhat intact. Also how tragic and ironic that he's right behind his own bowling alley the whole time!!! Ahh! I'm not sure why they did more of a blue color for him with purple accents but he's still pretty.

I really am itching to write about poor Bonnie and why he ended up like this and how. It still doesn't add up for me yet but I'm hoping more secrets will be revealed. I assumed his body was used as a basis for Burntrap but there's still so much of him left that it doesn't seem like that's the case. Oh gosh, I want to fix my boy up and make sure he's okay. My boy Bonnie ;-;

OH THE PATPATS! Those have me so skeptical ahhh! I think they have to be connected to Glitchtrap, maybe acting as his eyes and ears. I also got so wigged out seeing them surround Bonnie's ruined body. There's so many thoughts I have but I'll leave it there for now ahhhhh!

Mountain Peak was finally old enough to do some work around the farm and he was loving it! He couldn’t do nearly as much as what his mom and aunties did yet, but he didn’t care. Pulling the smaller rocks around the farm in his cart made him feel useful, and it was only the beginning of all that he would do when he grew up!

“You’re going to take these to the house and give them to Grandma and Grandpa. They’re for tumbling. Understood?”

Limestone gave her orders as she shoveled some pebbles into his cart, but Mounty beamed like she’d just told him to go to the candy store and buy whatever he wanted.

“Yes, Mom!”

It wasn’t a very long distance to the house from here; he could still hear his family’s hooves crushing boulders the farther he walked. But still it was important, and he was thrilled to be doing his part.

He was also close enough to hear somepony yell out in pain.

“AUGH!”

It was the unmistakable gravelly growl of Limestone Pie.

“Mom—!”

Mounty called out, thrusting his harness off as fast as he could so he could run over to her. But before he could take off, his grandfather was already on it.

Igneous wasn’t running by any means, he was too old for that. But he walked fast and with resolve to tend to her.

“My daughter! What has befallen thee?”

“Ngh, fuck—“

Limestone stopped herself, embarrassed to curse in front of her father.

“I mean, I just kicked the rock wrong.”

“What have we told thee about boulder crushing? Thou must take caution, swing at a precise angle, or thou shall injure thyself!”

It looked like Igneous was scolding her, but there was worry etched deeply into his wrinkled face. Even Mounty could see it from where he watched at a distance.

“No, Pa, I’m fine. It doesn’t hurt that bad—ow!”

The mare quickly proved herself wrong once she tried to get up, a sharp pain shooting up her leg.

Her father slowly leaned down despite his old bones, inspecting her closely.

“It must be a sprain. It shall require days to heal.”

Limestone couldn’t believe what she was hearing, she was the farm’s hardest worker! The farm couldn’t survive without her, not even for a day! She couldn’t rest!

“But—“

“Thy work outdoors is done, go to the house and busy thyself seated.”

She couldn’t argue with him any further, Igneous had the final say and she knew it. So she relented and started limping back to the house.

Shame burned in her chest as she hobbled along. Her father must have been so disappointed in her. She knew how to crush rocks, he’d taught her this, but still she did it wrong and hurt herself! Such a stupid mistake for a grown mare like her! Especially if she was going to inherit this farm one day.

“Mom, are you okay?”

“I’m fine.”

Limestone grumbled as she passed by her son, barely acknowledging him at all through her own frustration.

Mounty knew she was in a lot of pain, but it seemed to be something else that was making her so upset. He didn’t understand why. Grandpa was just looking out for her, telling her to go get some rest before she hurt herself any more. He was being a mighty caring dad! She was lucky to have somepony like him looking out for her.

There were a lot of things he didn't understand about how grown up ponies saw the world.

His mom clearly wasn’t in the mood for any help, so Mounty decided to go out and see if there was anything he could do with Grandpa.

Imagine: You’re a fiction writer and are having trouble coming up with a new story idea. Also your girlfriend REALLY wants to cuddle. Aka Cuddles: The Cure-All. (Wanda Maximoff x writer!reader)

*Not my GIF, maybe not the best one for a fluff fic, but it’s kind of about focus.

Author’s Note: 

I headcanon that Wanda is an absolute cuddlebug. I might also do some non-yan with Tetyana. And possibly Yelena.

Ironically, I’ve been having trouble coming up with content because I’ve been putting some of my time into my fic on fimfiction (yes, I write MLP fics sometimes. I’m currently working on a dark one with a character based on Wanda (sorta) and inspired by “Rainbow Factory.” Right here.

“Aaugh!”

You cry out as you bring your head into your hands. A blank document sits on your computer screen; you’ve been afflicted with writer’s block, the bane of every writer’s existence. (Same)

“(Y/N)? Sweetie?”

Your girlfriend Wanda emerges from the living room, a concerned look spread upon her face. 

“Is there something wrong?”

You sigh.

“I just.....I feel like I’m losing inspiration for my stories. It’s that stupid writer’s block.”

Wanda walks over, hugging you from behind and giving you a sweet kiss on the cheek before placing her chin on your shoulder.

“I’m sure you’ll think of something, darling. How about you come cuddle with me? Perhaps that could help.”

“But......augh! I’d love to, but I just want to get at least something out on the document.”

You massage your temples, the headache you’ve been having continuously announcing its presence.

“You can’t force creativity,” Wanda reminds you. “Come on, let’s go cuddle.”

“Wanda--”

“Cuddles! Cuddles and sitcoms. It’ll relieve your stress, honey.”

You look at her.

“You just want an excuse to cuddle with me, don’t you?”

“Mm-hmm.” She nods and scrunches up her nose at you.

Your heart melts.

“Go get some comfy clothes on fi--”

With a snap of her fingers, she’s wearing comfy clothes.

“....Okay, just give me a second to--”

SNAP!

Aaaand now you have comfy clothes on.

The popcorn machine in your kitchen begins popping and Wanda gasps excitedly.

“Perfect timing! I made popcorn for us to watch it with.”

Excitedly grabbing onto your hand, she practically pulls you to the living room. You think that she might get up to get the popcorn, so then you can sneak your lapto--

Snap!

....Okay, we’ll then she’ll have to put in the DV--

Snap!

....What about some blankets fo--?

Snap!

Having a witch as your girlfriend does make for an interesting life.

The TV turns on and the intro plays. Putting a blanket over you two, Wanda hugs you close, beaming. You snuggle up to her. Soon the title for The Dick Van Dyke Show comes on; to your amusement, once again, It May Look Like A Walnut is on. You chuckle and give her a little kiss on the cheek.

“You’re cute,” you chuckle.

“No you are!” She scrunches her nose up at you. “But we can argue about this later.”

You two turn your attention back to the TV screen. You watch through the walnut episode a few times before moving onto other episodes.

“Is the Cupcake Test really a viable way of telling if a kid’s sick?” you ask her.

She shrugs light-heartedly.

“Mama and papa never tried it on me or Pietro.”

“Maybe we could try it on our children?” you ask shyly.

Her face goes red as she giggles, scrunching her nose.

“We’ll see, you cutie pie.”

She cuddles up even closer to you as you go through more episodes. The two of you end up falling asleep on the couch in a cuddle, popcorn littering the couch, the blanket, the floor, while the show is quietly playing on the TV. 

You wake up the next morning, a bit groggy, trying to remember what happened. Then suddenly, you’re struck with an idea. Not wanting to wake Wanda, you quietly slip out of her grasp, putting a pillow in your place, before rushing back to the office. When she wakes up, she hears you fiercely typing on your keyboard, a story practically racing out of your fingertips like magic. She smiles as she hears it while she goes to make breakfast.

She’s always said that cuddling is one of the best medicines for stress.

Ooo, this is a good one but rough because there's, like, a total of ten lapsitting moments in all of BL so... I just have to remember them! Augh. I don't even REMEMBER despite my love of this trope.

TOSSARA: My favorite. My number one. The best lapsitting because it's so darling and because it was the first.

2. Mr. Cinderella: Absolutely darling and I love how sweetly Ba Vinh sits in his lap. A+, hope we get more of him sitting in laps in the future.

3. You are Ma Stupid Boy: This one wings just for how sweet the little pull off his feet bit was.

4. Unforgotten Night is one here for sheer quantity over quality. Love it so much. Why is this trope so common in BLs most people don't appreciate?

5. Want To See You: Again, Ba Vinh loves lapsitting. As does Vietnam in general, it seems.

6. Secret Crush on You: ... It counts. Shut up. I just love them, okay?

7. Cutie Pie: Also just love these boys.

8. Ai Long Nhai: This is high just because it's also a tiny piano lesson and it was adorable beyond belief. And I remember it!

There are probably more and ones I actually liked more but this is the list of ones I remember, have gifs or images of and just... liked? I like them all.

And my +1 that doesn't get a gif or screenshot because I don't want it to is... every moment of broken consent in the second half of LITA. Every single one. Just... worst trope ever, why is 'I'm going to do this TO you' a trope anyway?

Anne…the creature of another world

[B]A: oh my head (sits up) where am i and gu-

(She turns to look for her friends.) Sasha? Marcy? (Started panicking) oh no no no I knew that dumb box wasn’t a good idea.

As she begins to walk into the unknown forest she is being followed by a beast.

A:man this place is h-(falls off a cliff)

uuuuuggggeee (and suffered much damage from the fall breaking her leg.)

a-augh (breathes heavy as tears are falling down her face.) I-it’s okay Anne you got out of worse situations before. ( breathes in and out.) okay (tries to sit up but she can’t.)

?: wow she really is hurt (gets smacked in the back of his head.)

??: I agree she doesn’t look like she’ll be a threat plus wartwood would love he-

???:sprig is gone

??: oh..ohh yeah they’ll love her.

A:okay I got this

-okayyy listen i was still kind of holding out hope that i was over my edgy emo boy phase just because like. aspects of it still make me embarrassed to think about. and i've been getting used to shipping with a Particular Kind of Guy. and it's hard emotionally to like characters that a lot of other people like too. but gang i think we're in trouble because before the episode even started and i was listening to comic dubs a mordecai‏‏‎ ‎fic idea got itself caught in the brainworks and damn it i really want to fucking write it.

-the mix of 3d-ish assets and traditional 2d...eats it eats it eats it

-i love all the voice actors but ivy's especially made her sound like such a cutie pie i love her. definitely my other favorite character.

-mordecai's‏‏‎ ‎ticking clocks motif carrying over from the comic...

-THE WAY IVY'S REFLECTED IN HIS GLASSES WHEN HE PUTS THE GUN DOWN I'M...she was the only one of the three who was‏‏‎ ‎at the‏‏‎ ‎lackadaisy‏‏‎ ‎at the same time as him. i might cry. i might really truly cry. i NEED to see more of them i need to see it now if it doesn't become part of canon it needs to be a fic. actually! it might be a fic! i remember seeing something similar once! HOLD ON!

-it MIGHT have been part of a collection of ivy drabbles i found on fanfic.net. at least that seems to be the most likely culprit. not exactly the same as i remembered it i think they were in a car but it was fuckin' precious. so it's okay.

-ivy trying to drink the alcohol and having a terrible experience and going "ohhh what a! sophisticated! flavor...!" is so me when i drink literally any alcohol. so far it's all been bad but i need people to think i'm cool. okay. okay. okay.

-ugh yeah i have to reread the comic now. i have to. no choice. this was too fucking good. god. this was so amazing it totally deserves all the praise it's getting and if it gets made into an actual animated series i'll blow up firework mode (again. a good thing. i like the phrase firework mode.)
